The Flight Alert Email (FAE) is an integral part of the TripAdvisor Flights product. If users are interested in a route or route/date pairing but not quite ready to commit, they are able to sign up for price alert emails about the flight. It is one of the biggest entry points, retaining our flights customers by bringing them back to our Flights pillar, but establishing a for them to explore the other pillars of TripAdvisor - hotels, attractions, vacation rentals, cruises, restaurants - depending on where they were in the funnel. This project focused on increasing the FAE subscription rate and helping the customer find the right flight - not only the right route and date, but the right price.

One of the main challenges of this project was making sure we accounted for two groups: 1) users who were already signed up for TripAdvisor and are signed into their TripAdvisor account 2) users who are not yet members or member who are not logged in. This was incredibly important when considering and mapping out our user flows, as the toggle would need to prompt different thing. These were also based on tasks we were capable of performing on the backend.

We tested two different versions - left rail and center column inline with the flights search results. We ended up with the center column inline version as this would work best for all breakpoints.

Booking a flight and planning a trip can be a very overwhelming feat. Empathizing with our users and understanding this idea was an important piece of this project. The first designs were focused on savings through considering alternate dates and alternate airports. This was a feature that I noticed a lot of our competitors - Google, Skyscanner, Hopper, many more - doing as well, but how could we make it better?

I completed 4 rounds of testing, each round building on the last. Each round of user tests, 10-20 user videos. I watched each video and recorded results into an extensive sheet I developed. Users’ answers to comments regarding usefulness/helpfulness were recorded then parred down to key insights that would then influence the next design.

In the end users chose the left rail version.

Led the redesign of SeatGuru’s homepage. I found the biggest challenge was creating a search form that would accommodate not only the seat maps and the flights shopping experience, but the rental cars product as well. Since these products are very different, it was exciting to see the form come together, case by case.

Here are a few of the responsive breakpoints I’ve designed for, as well as what the old desktop view looked like.

Led redesign of SeatGuru Native app — specifically the Seat Maps and Satus tabs — for both Android and iOS.

TripAdvisor is known for it's content - traveler's ratings and reviews - so the introduction of Airline Reviews was a huge addition to it's brand.

In collaboration with the hotels team, I designed the airline detail pages across multiple platforms including desktop, iOS and Android devices.

I redesigned the handoff page for TripAdvisor flights. When a user was ready to book, we presented them with the additional flight details on their chosen itinerary, as well as a comparison of the booking partners and prices available.

Our goal was to make sure our customers have all the necessary flight information before they were redirected to the partner page to book. Since we are a meta search (customers book on our partners’ pages) for flights, this was a critical problem to solve, as the bounce rate was extremely high once the customers were arriving to the partner check out page.

The TripAdvisor Flights Native landing page had not been redesigned in many years, and I was tasked with working on improvements for the TripAdvisor Flights search form, for both Android and iOS.

Included are a few comps for different use cases I designed. Since TripAdvisor is available on many different global points of sale, it had become second nature to make sure my designs were successful for other currencies and languages as well.

Android — iOS

I worked with Product Managers and other designers to create this module to enable consumers to compare their desired flights across different airline and meta partners. This unit was a big win, and demonstrated that consumers want transparency in finding the best value.

As airlines move towards a world of richer content, attributes associated with each plane ticket have become more complex and vary across airline partners. This ongoing project seeks to help both our consumers and our airline partners. We try to help the consumer by allowing them visibility into what exactly they'll be getting with their ticket, whether that's seat selection, entertainment, flexibility to change their trip, etc.

I collaborated with product managers and business development leads to integrate a design into our Flights Search Results page, with a modal and a fares tab within the itinerary details.

Working with the Company Store's bright punches of color and fun, but simple patterns, I knew I wanted a somewhat neutral background. So played with some light hand drawn accents along with lots a of white space and beige grainy textures. I worked with art directors and buyers to bring the Company Store brand to life, while also adding Rue's personal brand touches.

Buyers and Art Directors wanted to move in a direction of a Nautical theme for this piece, picking up vibes from Nantucket, to Malibu, to the Hamptons. I decided to go with a crisp white finish, with hints of strong textures for the background. In this case, less was more, so a lot of white space was key, especially since the products were cool hues and held strong patterns patterns.

Here is an example of one of the Experiences events I have worked on. In addition to collaborating with Exhale, I worked with art directors and buyers. With this project, I used curated images given to us by the brand. It was really important to capture Exhale's vibes of wellness and zen in the arrangement of images on their event page.

I produced assets for tablet, mobile, email, and desktop.

Like the Summer Home Shop, the product chosen by art directors and buyers for this project held a lot of different patterns, with mixes of cool and warm tones. A white background with subtle texture was key with simple but effective type and calls to action.

Working with these beautiful Waterford pieces was a real treat. In collaboration with the art directors, we decided a airy, delicate, watercolor theme would do the trick.

For this project, the challenge was to work with images we shot in the studio, along with product images taken directly from the event. To complement the shots the art director had put together, I chose products with neutral tones, adding simple linework to make them feel grounded in the space. The swatches were a last minute touch, to give a DIY palette feel.
